CM Punk Won’t Be Part Of WWE Backstage Show

It appears that the verdict is in on whether CM Punk will be part of the WWE Backstage show presented by FOX.

PWinsider.com reported this afternoon that fans shouldn’t expect to see the former WWE Champion on the show when tuning in. According to the report, Punk has no current deal with FOX and is not currently in Los Angeles ahead of its premiere.

WWE Backstage premieres on FS1 (FOX Sports 1) tonight at 11 pm EST. The show will be hosted by Renee Young and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.

Speculation of a possible role for the former WWE Champion started when it was previously reported that Punk’s representative went to FOX to try to get him as a co-host of the new show.

Punk was at FOX Studios in September to discuss a potential on-air role for the show and did film test material for it as Young was also present for the meeting.

FOX brought in several WWE and non-WWE personalities this summer to try out for the show including the likes of Taz and WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman.

Punk had confirmed in various interviews to promote his latest film, Girl on the Floor, that he did film test material for the show but had not heard back regarding his chances at getting the role.
